آرزوهایش شد نه آرزو با سه آرزوی قبلی
بعد با هر کدام از این دوازده آرزو
سه آرزوی دیگر خواست
که تعداد آرزوهایش رسید به ۴۶ یا ۵۲ یا...
به هر حال از هر آرزویش استفاده کرد
برای خواستن یه آرزوی دیگر
تا وقتی که تعداد آرزوهایش رسید به...
۵ میلیارد و هفت میلیون و ۱۸ هزار و ۳۴ آرزو
بعد آرزو هایش را پهن کرد روی زمین و شروع کرد به کف زدن و رقصیدن
جست و خیز کردن و آواز خواندن
و آرزو کردن برای داشتن آرزوهای بیشتر
بیشتر و بیشتر
در حالی که دیگران میخندیدند و گریه میکردند
عشق می ورزیدند و محبت میکردند
لستر وسط آرزوهایش نشست
آنها را روی هم ریخت تا شد مثل یک تپه طلا
و نشست به شمردنشان تا ......
پیر شد
و بعد یک شب او را پیدا کردند در حالی که مرده بود
و آرزوهایش دور و برش تلنبار شده بودند
آرزوهایش را شمردند
حتی یکی از آنها هم گم نشده بود
همشان نو بودند و برق میزدند
بفرمائید چند تا بردارید
به یاد لستر هم باشید
که در دنیای سیب ها و بوسه ها و کفش ها
همه آرزوهایش را با خواستن آرزوهای بیشتر حرام کرد

Soakin' in the rain.
It might be a button of blue
On the coat of the woman
Who lived in a shoe.

Velvet robe of a queen.
It might be the one little bite
Of the apple her stepmother
Gave to Snow White.
It might be the veil of a bride
Or a bottle with some evil genie inside.
