What good amid these, O me, O life?
That you are here - that life
exists and identity,
that the powerful play goes on,
and you may contribute a verse.
I discover myself on the verge of a usual mistake.

To be in any form, what is that?
(round and round we go, all of us, and ever come back thither,)
If nothing lay more develop'd the quahung in it's callous shell were enough.
Mine is no callous shell.
I have instant conductors all over me whether I pass or stop,

I merely stir, press, feel with my fingers, and I am happy, to touch my person to someone else's is about as much as I can stand.

You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self.
Loafe with me on the grass—loose the stop from your throat;
Not words, not music or rhyme I want—not custom or lecture, not even the best;
Only the lull I like, the hum of your valved voice.
We were together. I forget the rest.
